Of the children recently evacuated from Amed's Sur district; K. Ş. (11), T. A.(7), G. A.(10), R. A. (7), M. A. (6), Ö. A.(4). Ş.T. (9) and one other whose name couldn't be verified, have been handed over to Turkish Social Service and Child Protection Institution.
A total of 43 civilians have managed to get out of Sur alive as the district remains under a heavy bombardment and siege by Turkish military and police forces for 100 days. Of these, 18 have been jailed, including 4 women and 3 children.
Mother of 4 children, Remziye Tosun is among those arrested with the suspicion of ‘being member of a terrorist organization.’ Her two-year-old baby Beritan Tosun was also jailed alongside her, while another daughter of hers, 10-year-old Şevin, was sent to a Child Protection Institution.
Those arrested for 'membership to an illegal organisation' include 17-year-old Mervan Çoban and a child with mental disabilities who has a certificate of disability.
Children G.A., R.A., M.A. ve Ö.A. who are among those sent to Child Protection Institution had been detained and later released during their parents' evacuation from Sur. Their siblings are also reported to be remaining in the institution.
4 WOMEN ARRESTED
On the other hand, Seniha Sürer, Remziye Tosun, Reyhan Kavak and Emine Abiş who had been staying in their neighborhoods since the beginning of the curfew and siege on Sur, were also arrested soon after their leave which was essential for the survival of their children amid intensified artillery attacks. 4 other women, Hülya Erdoğan, Aynur Arslan, Fatma Kaya and Seda Arslan were released on conditions of judicial control after several days in custody.
The other civilians arrested after evacuation from Sur are; Mervan Çoban, İhsan Biter, Mehmet Salih Pasin, İhsan Karatay, Mesut Aygül, Mehmet Çoreşoğlu, M. Can Alpaydıncı, Cengiz Abiş, Bedri Oğuz, Ümit Özkan, Deniz Ataş, Mehmet Şah Pervane.
