5 soldiers killed, 12 others wounded in actions by guerrillas
HPG reported that 5 soldiers were killed and at least 12 others were wounded as result of actions carried out by guerrillas against Turkish troops in Northern Kurdistan.
HPG Press Office released a statement providing information about the recent actions carried out by HPG (People's Defense Forces) and YJA Star (Free Women's Troops) guerrillas against the Turkish army in Northern Kurdistan territory.
ŞEMDİNLİ
According to the statement, the Turkish army started an operation in Katuna, Şıkeftanê, Kola and Çılmêrga villages in Hakkari's Şemzinan (Şemdinli) district on May 9. In a sabotage action, guerrillas hit an operational unit near the Çılmêrga village, which left 1 soldier dead and 8 others wounded, including 4 heavily.
Turkish army started another operation in Mergê hemlet in Şemzinan region on May 9. Sikorsky helicopters airdropped soldiers in the operation area in the evening of May 10 and the operation continues.
ÇUKURCA
At 22:00 on May 8, guerrillas carried out a sabotage action targeting an armored vehicle in a Turkish military convoy heading from Çelê (Çukurca) to Colemerg (Hakkari). The armored vehicle was damaged and 4 soldiers were injured, 1 of them seriously, as result of the action after which Turkish forces closed the road to traffic.
At 22:30 on May 9, clash erupted between guerrillas and soldiers in an area between Karataş and Deştanê outposts in Çukurca. While the Turkish army launched an operation in the area afterwards, sporadic clashes continued into the morning hours of May 10. It couldn't be clarified how many soldiers were killed or wounded in the confrontation.
During the same hours, guerrillas hit a unit of the operational force at close range, which left 3 soldiers dead. Contact was lost with a guerrilla during the clashes and the operation is ongoing.
At 15:30 on May 10, a targeted action by YJA Star guerrillas left one soldier dead on Koordine hill in Çukurca.
SİİRT
Turkish army launched an operation in Gırê Kaç area in Pervari district of Siirt on May 10. Turkish army's jets, Cobra helicopters and troops at Osyan outpost shelled the area at between 12.00 – 13.00. Two guerrillas were martyred as result of the attacks and their ID details will be announced later on.
