5 special operations members killed in Şırnak

An explosion occurred as Turkish special operations members entered a building in Şırnak late yesterday evening. The building collapsed as a result of the blast, leaving at least 5 members of special operations forces dead and 2 others wounded.

As the popular resistance against the genocidal attacks of state forces endures in Şırnak province for over a month now, 7 members of Turkish gendarmerie special operations (JÖH) and police special operations (PÖH) remained under debris as a result of a blast that hit a house they were entering on Friday evening.

Turkish forces were unable sent reinforcements to the area for a long while due to continued clashes in the neighborhood. A group of special operations members was later sent to the scene, upon which clashes intensified in this area.

Corpses of 5 special operations members could be removed from debris only hours later, while 2 others were rescued with wounds. The casualties were taken to the 23rd Gendarmerie Border Division Command and Şırnak Public Hospital.

On the other hand, 7 special operations members were injured during clashes between Civil Defense Units YPS/YPS-JIN and Turkish soldiers sent to the area to rescue the trapped casualties. These 7 were also rushed to the 23rd Gendarmerie Border Division Command.

While state forces retreated from the area after the collapse of the building in İsmetpaşa neighborhood, tank, howitzer and artillery aggression on the neighborhoods of resistance continued for hours amid heavy clashes.
