5 Turkish soldiers killed in Çukurca

Guerrillas hit the Geman outpost in Çukurca, which left 5 Turkish soldiers dead. The Turkish forces were hit by guerrillas also in Şemdinli and Gever.

HPG guerrillas targeted the Geman outpost in Hakkari’s Çukurca district at 19:00 on August 6. A transit vehicle and 5 soldiers near it were hit with light and heavy weapons, which left 5 soldiers dead, according to information ANF obtained from local sources and HPG officials.

On the other hand, guerrillas also hit the Çeman asayish and outpost in Hakkari’s Şemdinli district Monday noon. Reports say the action left casualties among the Turkish soldiers stationed here.

In another action, guerrillas targeted the soldiers on Alişer hill in Hakkari’s Gever (Yüksekova) district at 19:00 Monday evening. Several missiles hit the positions of the soldiers on the hill but no detail was immediately available as to the number of those killed or wounded here.

The Turkish army started an aerial activity in the region in the wake of the action, and Turkish aircraft bombarded the Xakurke region late last night.
