The decision to establish the Abdullah Öcalan Democracy Foundation was taken at the Conference hosted by Lord Glassman at the House of Lords.

The conference was held at the House of Lords in London to mark the 20th anniversary of the international conspiracy that led to the abduction of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The conference was attended by many politicians, academics, activists and journalists from different groups. Speakers included Lord Maurice Glassman who hosted the event, Sinn Fein MP Chris Hazzard, HDP deputy Hishyar Ozsoy, Professor David Greaber, German Professor Udo Steinbach, South African politician Ebrahim Ismail Ebrahim, Syria Democratic Council (MSD) co-chair Ilham Ehmed and Öcalan's lawyer Ibrahim Bilmez.
