The 6th Congress of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in the town of Rimêlan continues with speeches. The congress at Aram Dikran Culture and Art Centre started this morning under the slogan “From Rojava towards Democratic Syria”. In addition to 600 delegates from the three cantons of Rojava, some 300 guests representing the political parties and organizations from Europe and all parts of Kurdistan and are also attending to the congress.
PYD co-chair Asya Abdullah remembered those who sacrificed their lives resisting for the freedom of Rojava peoples, and paid tribute to all martyrs thanks to whom -she underlined- organisation of this congress with such large participation has become possible today.
Abdullah stressed that the ongoing resistance in Rojava constituted steps for the building of the future in four parts of Kurdistan and the Middle East. She said the resistance mounted in North Kurdistan in the body of Cizre people was a struggle of honour against the power mechanisms.
Pointing to the role of women in Rojava Revolution, Asya Abdullah said “The resistance in the body of YPJ and women’s liberation movement has made history and constitutes an example of women's resistance against the male dominant mentality in Kurdistan. We believe our struggle will continue by growing further.”
Abdullah saluted the resistance of all Kurdistan forces and all those who supported the Rojava Revolution, the aim of which -she recalled- was to build a Democratic Syria and a free life against all the attacks. “We believe our congress held with the participation of delegations will ensure the building of a Democratic Syria”, she added.
Following the speech of Asya Abdullah, PYD Co-chair Salih Müslim saluted the participants in Kurdish, Arab and English and started to read out a report prepared in Kurdish.
