Actions by guerrillas leave 16 Turkish soldiers dead

16 soldiers of the Turkish army were killed as result of actions carried out by guerrillas in Amed, Muş and Bazid.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office released a statement providing information about the most recent actions carried out by HPG and YJA Star (Free Women's Troops) guerrillas in Northern Kurdistan.

MUŞ

On May 1, YJA Star guerrillas hit a Turkish military unit comprising of gendarme special operations (JÖH) and counterguerrillas deployed in Zengok village in Muş province. Following effective strikes on the unit's positions, guerrillas also hit a unit that attempted to intervene the scene following the action, after which they turned back to their base.

10 JÖH and 3 counterguerrillas were killed and many others were wounded as result of the strikes, while 7 rifles and 7 bags of theirs were also destroyed. After retrieving the dead and wounded soldiers from the scene, Turkish army launched an operation in the area.

AMED

At 07:00 on June 3, guerrillas hit the counterguerrillas in charge of the security of a new outpost under construction in Martyr Brûsk area in Amed's Piran (Dicle) district. Strikes at close range left 2 counterguerrillas dead and 1 other wounded, while their hut was also hit and destroyed.

BAZİD

At 18:15 on June 3, YJA Star guerrillas conducted a targeted action on the soldiers deployed at Vedat Özkaya ourpost hill in Ağrı's Bazîd (Doğubeyazıt) district, as result of which 1 soldier was killed.

SİİRT

At 19:30 on June 3, guerrillas hit the Hêşet outpost in Siirt's Pervari district. The number of soldiers killed or wounded here couldn't be clarified.
