HPG Media Center reported that the operations and military activities of the Turkish army continued increasingly.
Accordingly, Turkish army drones carried out reconnaissance flights over;
- Medya Defense zones between 21:00 and 22:45 on August 9,
- Çerçela region between 10:00 on August 9 and 21:00 on August 10,
- Avashin area and border between 21:00 on August 9 and 10:00 on August 10,
- Gare region between 12:00 and 15:00 on August 9,
- Heftanin area and border between 11:00 on August 9 and 13:00 on 11:00 on August 10,
- Metina region between 13:00 on August 9 and 03:00 on August 10,
- Zap area between 04:00 and 17:00 on August 9 as well as between 21:00 on August 9 and 07:00 on August 10.
Turkish army drones have also been carrying out reconnaissance flights over the Geliyê Zilan region of Ağrı between 19:00 on August 9 and 10:00 on August 10.
GUERILLA ACTIONS
In its statement, HPG Media Center said that guerrillas responded to Turkish army attacks with the following actions:
As part of the Martyr Reşit Serdar initiative, guerrillas sabotaged a military convoy twice as it was heading to Çukurca from Hakkari. Two armored vehicles were heavily damaged during the action, and the number of dead and injured soldiers has not yet been determined.
Turkish army’s Cobra type helicopters shot fires at that area between Hakkari and Çukurca around 09:30, and the guerrillas that control the region responded to the helicopters with heavy weaponry. Guerrillas have also been controlling the area between Şemdinli’s Gewreyê Cühiyan area and Bezelê for the past week.
HPG guerrillas carried out an action against Beykent Commando Batallion in Siirt’s Kurtalan district at 22:30 on August 9, hit 2 positions effectively, destroyed 1 position completely, and killed 2 soldiers. Guerrillas also hit the District Gendarme Command and shot several soldiers in front of the barrack. The number of dead or injured soldiers has not yet been clarified, and many ambulances arrived at the command after the attack.
HPG guerrillas acted against the 7th Corps Command in Amed city center at 00:15 on August 9, and the number of dead or injured soldiers has not yet been clarified.
Guerrillas carried out actions against the three watch posts that were guarding the military armory in Ağrı’s Doğubeyazıt district with B7 rocket propellers and weapons at 20:00 on August 8. The watch posts were heavily damaged and the number of dead or injured soldiers has not yet been clarified. The Turkish army launched an operation in the area after this action, but ended its operation that did not yield any results.
HPG stressed that the Turkish army has been increasing its storage and deployment activities in Erzurum and Ağrı, particularly in Ağrı’s Eleşkirt district.
Guerrillas acted against Çiçek military post located between Dersim and Ovacık at 18:00 on August 9, and shot 10 soldiers in front of the post from close distance. The number of dead or injured soldiers has not yet been clarified, and Cobra type helicopters shot random fires upon the area surrounding Zergoyi and Arman villages during the army’s operation after guerrillas’ action.
