Figen Altındağ and Ahmet Türk, co-mayor candidates of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) for Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, have cast their votes for today’s local elections.
The journalists whose names were not included in the list prepared by the Governorate, were not allowed to cover the voting process.
Answering reporters’ questions after casting his vote, Türk said; “We know that every single vote is of great importance for our future. We have hope, this election will make important contributions for the future of peace, brotherhood and justice.
Our people have been waiting for this day. Our friends and our people have been through an intense electoral period. Only hours are left. The will of our people was usurped and our people will give the necessary answer for the removal of this usurpation.”
HDP’s co-mayor candidates in Nusaybin, Kızıltepe, Artuklu, Midyat, Ömerli, Savur, Derik and Mazıdağı districts of Mardin have also cast their votes in the districts they run for.
