Unable to break the resistance of people in Northern Kurdistan, the AKP government continues to make every effort to this end. The government is relocating some people disguised as "refugees" in the Kurdish region. Afghans that were placed in Van in 1980's were later given arms by the state and recruited as village guards to serve the Turkish army. The Turkish state is now taking steps to place Afghans in Northern Kurdistan under the disguise of "refugees".
The 'Tent Village' built in Bitlis' Adilcevaz district was promoted during a ceremony attended by attaches from the Mongolia, Pakistan and Jordan embassies.
Following last month's statement by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Veysi Kaynak that there were three million refugees waiting in Iran to cross into Turkey, 150 Afghans came from Iran as the first group last week and these were settled in the Van province bordering Iran.
Questions were raised when the 150 refugees, some 60 of whom are women and children, reached Van bus station despite the 'We are monitoring our borders closely' statement of the Turkish Chief of Staff in response to Kaynak's previous remarks "30 thousand people entered Iğdır and Ağrı illegally in 2016 alone."
THE NUMBER EXPECTED TO EXCEED 75 THOUSAND
It is claimed that more than 75 thousand refugees are expected to be brought to Turkey, even though where and how these refugees will be housed remains unknown. No public statement has been made on the issue but works have started already for the building of a 'Tent Village' on the foothills of Mount Süphan in Bitlis' Adilcevaz district.
Bitlis Governorate promoted the 'Tent village' as 'a village where the Medieval Age will be relived. Cultural attaches from the Mongolia, Pakistan and Jordan embassies visited and inspected the area of the tent village upon the invitation of Bitlis governor Ahmet Çınar.
GOVERNOR: MEDIEVAL VILLAGE TO BE COMPLETED BY THE AUGUST 12
Bitlis governor Ahmet Çınar, Adilcevaz district governor Arif Karaman and Mayor Necati Gürsoy informed the embassy officials about the tent village under construction. Governor Çınar spoke to journalists and said that a tent village where the Medieval Age will be relived is to be built in the area by August 12. We will build a village where people will be able to live the Medieval Age far from the modern life in all aspects including living space, food and drink.
