It has been learned that three new dams have been completed in the last month in Hakkari. It turned out that the dams and HPPs were allegedly built for rent and security.

In Hakkari there is a prison with a population of 200,000, which is why the news that 2 new jails are to be opened caused reactions among the people.

Almost each family in Hakkari has a family member in prison. The state here is ruled by martial law, while democracy and human rights are suspended, unemployment and poverty are at a very high level. Despite all the pressure from the state, the people of Hakkari continue to resist.

Due to the unyielding stance of the people of Hakkari, hundreds of police stations and posts have been built in the centers, valleys and bows of all provinces. The Turkish state in addition built dams and HPPs on almost all water streams citing security purposes. Building dams mean destruction of nature and thousands of forcibly displaced people.

The AKP-MHP government has built 2 new prisons, as well as 25 HPPs and dams, 300 police stations and outposts. Many HPPs and dams were built in the Zap Valley and these caused most of the Zap Valley being dried out and natural life being destroyed.
