Details of the plans for the occupation of Amed’s Sur district under the guise of “expropriation” have come to light with the Cabinet decree promulgated in the official gazette.

According to the decree, the 6 neighborhoods where the siege and attacks under the excuse of “curfews” will almost entirely be occupied.

HISTORIC BUILDINGS ALSO SEIZED

The occupation includes 348 areas under 15 neighborhoods. One of the areas to be expropriated in the occupation is the area containing the service building of Sur Municipality, authorized to bring basic services to the people. The service building stands on Block 131, Lot 106 in İskenpaşa Neighborhood that is being expropriated with the decree.

There are dozens of registered historic buildings in the district and it is reported that these will also be seized along with the municipality service building.

TOKİ IN ACTION

Reports state that these expropriation areas will be handed over to the TOKİ (Housing Development Administration). A 135-hectare (162 blocks) area had been handed over to the TOKİ recently by the Directorate of National Estate and Treasury.
