AKP settles Gagauz Turks in Northern Kurdistan

The AKP government is implementing their plans to change the demography in Kurdistan. Most recently, 180 Gagauz Turkish families have been settled in Bitlis province’s Ahlat and Adilcevaz districts.

The AKP government is hard at work with dirty policies to redesign Kurdistan. AKP has resettled 180 Gagauz Turkish families from Ukraine and Kazakhstan in Ahlat and Adilcevaz districts of Bitlis. Gagauz Turks have been given TOKİ apartments to live in and all their needs have been provided by the state.

HDP Van MP Lezgin Botan spoke to ANF on the Gagauz Turks resettled in Ahlat and Adilcevaz, Bitlis. Botan said AKP’s actual goal was to change the demography in Kurdistan, stating that AKP will never give up on racist policies, and continued: “There aren’t only Gagauz Turks in Ukraine. There are Gagauz Kurds as well. There are around 300 thousand Gagauz Kurds in other countries. Why doesn’t AKP resettle them in Kurdistan? Or why doesn’t AKP resettle the Kurds displaced by their dirty war but resettle foreigners?”

FOREIGNERS RESETTLED IN LIVING SPACES OF KURDS

Botan pointed out the AKP’s policies on four parts of Kurdistan and said: “AKP wants to exercise their colonialism in four parts of Kurdistan. Like in the Kirkuk example, they think those places belong to them. For example, again, they changed the name of he Al Akrad mountain to Turkmen mountain following the Erdoğan-Putin meeting. They waged a special war over Turkmens there and they attacked Rojavan territory with that. For close to two years, they have been exercising a general pillaging and destruction in Bakur Kurdistan. They evacuated villages in the ‘90s, now they are evacuating cities and they want to resettle foreign families in the locals’ place.

"KURDS WON’T ACCEPT COLONIALISM"

MP Lezgin Botan said the Kurdish people faced many hardships in history and continued: “When a people faces hardship, the Kurds offer a helping hand. This is why millions of people fleeing the wars in the Middle East seek refuge in the lands of Kurdistan. But if some come to invade Kurds’ lands, then the Kurds will never accept that and they will choose resistance.”

“THEY WANT TO TAKE KURDS OUT OF KURDISTAN”

Kurdistanis living in Ahlat and Adilcevaz districts of Bitlis also protest the resettlement of Gagauz Turks in their districts. A district resident, Erkan Elmas said that the AKP wants to take Kurds out of Kurdistan, but they will never leave their lands.

“SETTLE THEM IN ANKARA AND ISTANBUL”

District resident Naime Kaçak said the state wanted to redesign Kurdistan and continued: “Adilcevaz is the land of our ancestors. The state wants to remove us from these places with historic significance for us. But we will never leave our lands to anybody. Let them settle the Turks in Ankara, Istanbul or Antalya. They have no place in our lands.”
