Police forces have conducted a wave of house raids in the province of Van in the wake of yesterday's clash in Hacıbekir (Xaçort) neighborhood of the central İpekyolu district.
Many people including municipality staff İrfan Kaval were detained in the operation during which police teams broke down the doors of houses to get inside.
Special operations police members wearing snow masks continued patrolling in the neighborhood till the morning, loudly playing the Ottoman Mehter anthem and writing graffiti on walls like “DAESH came and you finished”, “ISIS, masked evil”.
Tension in the neighborhood continues.
In a previous case, Turkish police had clearly voiced support to the ISIS in Erbak (Başkale) district of Van. Policemen shouted "Long Live ISIS" as they advanced on demonstrators protesting the ISIS. The same policemen were also seen to be torturing a youngster from among demonstrators on a street at night.
