Alipaşa Mourning House in Sur demolished amid police siege

Alipaşa Mourning House in Amed’s Sur district, the demolition of which was not allowed by the residents yesterday, is now being demolished with scoops amid the siege of riot police and armored vehicles.

The state’s demolition continues uninterrupted in Alipaşa neighbourhood of Amed’s historic Sur district.

As the demolition continues in a large area surrounded with police barriers, police and municipal police attempted yesterday to demolish the Alipaşa Mourning House built by the DBP-held municipality and inhabitants of the district.

Police first seized the wares in the Mourning House yesterday, but couldn’t start to demolish the building due to the resistance of the people. The police were forced to leave the wares in the Mourning House, and these were later carried to Lalebey Mourning House by the residents.

Dozens of riot police laid a siege around the neighbourhood with armored vehicles today and employees of the usurped municipality started to demolish the Alipaşa Mourning House with scoops.

The journalists are hindered by the police from covering the ongoing demolition.
