According to Rojnews, Shengal District Governor Fehed Hamid and Hashd al-Shaabi Lalesh Commander Xal Elî refuted the claims that Iraqi army force and Hashd al-Shaabi withdrew from the region, stating that these allegations are voiced by some circles that seek to disturb the peace in the region.
Hamid said Iraqi troops, Hashd al-Shaabi and YBŞ (Shengal Resistance Units) are currently stationed in Shengal as the official defense force of the town.
Remarking that there is no ISIS activity in the region, Hamid said peace and security in the region is maintained.
Hashd al-Shaabi Lalesh Commander Xal Elî said only the Imam Ali Battalion under Hashd al-Shaabi has left the city and retreated to the Domîs headquarters in the surrounding of Shengal in order for no unrest to emerge and the town not to turn into a military area.
Xal Elî added that there is no foreign force in Shengal.
