Preparations for the rally to be held in Amed on 1 September, World Peace Day, have been completed. The rally is organized by labor and democracy forces with the slogan "Let's break the isolation, let's push back fascism, let's strongly express our belief in peace".

People will meet in Ofis at 5pm and will march to Şêx Seîd Square. Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar will also attend the rally. DBP Amed Provincial co-chair Mehmet Şirin Gürbüz and Education and Science Workers Union (Eğitim Sen) Amed Branch 1 co-chair Faruk Ercan called for participation in the rally.

'People need peace'

Mehmet Şirin Gürbüz told Mezopotamya News Agency (MA) that the democratic solution to the Kurdish issue and the path to peace is through breaking the isolation implemented in Imrali, and added: "If the people believed in living together and peace in 2013-2015, this was due to the negotiations with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan and the belief in Öcalan. The main theme of the march will be the call for the end of the isolation and the continuation of the negotiations with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. Because people need peace."

Gürbüz said that they are expecting all the people of Amed to raise their demand for peace at the rally tomorrow, and added: "All peoples, Kurdish, Turkish, Armenian, Circassian, need to support the march with this belief and give their voice."

Eğitim Sen Amed Branch 1 co-chair Faruk Ercan told MA that peace is the most important item on the agenda for the region and added: "Without peace, no problem in Turkey and the Middle East can be solved. Unfortunately, this region has become the center of wars for centuries. We know that the failure to achieve peace is the source of all the problems in the country. We know that when there is peace, the country’s economy, health and quality of life will increase. For this reason, we call on the dynamics in the city, peace lovers, to create peace."
