YPG Media Center announced that American YPG fighter Levi Jonathan Shirley (Agir Şervan) lost his life in Manbij on July 14. Levi Jonathan Shirley had joined the YPG in February, 2015, participated in the Rubar Qamishlo initiative, and returned to the US after the liberation of the Mount Kezwan. Code named Agir Şervan, Levi Jonathan Shirley returned to Rojava in January, 2016, and served in the Defense Units in Cizir and Kobanê cantons. Most recently, Agir Şervan was fighting in the Manbij front during the Martyr Commander Abu Layla operation.

In its statement, the YPG described Agit Şervan as a highly disciplined and responsible fighter that set an example to his comrades with his courage and spirit of sacrifice.
