HPG Press Office reported in a written statement that guerrillas conducted an action targeting the Girê Cotyar Battalion in Gabar area of Botan region from three sides at 13:13 on August 5.

The emplacements in the battalion were hit with rockets, which left three soldiers dead. One container was also targeted and hit, and the strike started a fire in the container. The emplacements were also hit with automatic weapons.

Guerrillas on the third side hit the emplacements, containers and one tank with heavy weapons, which left one container destroyed and the tank damaged. At least one soldier was confirmed to have been killed here.

Turkish forces at Gırê Cotyar and TRT Gabar battalions bombarded the surrounding areas in the wake of the action, causing a fire in the areas of Geliyê Gurdına, Qermê and Dêrşev. The dead and wounded soldiers were taken from the scene with Sikorsky helicopters at 21:30 in the evening.

HPG said this action was conducted in memory of the guerrilla Harun Çekdar (Ümit Turan) who fell a martyr during the action on Gırê Cotyar and Önce Vatan hill on July 30, 2015.
