As the military operations in the rural areas of the Lice district continue, an intensified military reinforcement is being made in many villages to the accompaniment of helicopters. Construction equipment and diggers have also been brought in to some villages as part of the military deployment.
Local sources report that special operations forces and village guards got deployed and formed emplacements on higher hills in Mehlê vicinity of the Kerwas village yesterday evening. These Turkish forces raided the village with construction equipment in the early morning hours and the blockade around the village continues.
In the meantime, the fire close to the vicinity is growing and leaving the area under smoke. Physical condition of a local civilian suffering asthma is reportedly getting worse.
Villagers told that the soldiers that raided the village had a list of some people to get arrested. A civilian house in Nenyas village was also torn down by soldiers.
Phone networks are not operating in the villages of Xosor, Mırşıf, Helhel, Zenge and Licok. There has been no communication with the residents in these villages since yesterday.
In the meantime, HDP MPs Nursel Aydoğan and Nadir Yıldırım were finally allowed access into the district after hours of obstruction by state forces. The deputies will have some talks in the district regarding the ongoing forest fires, military operations and human rights violations caused hence.
