Autonomous life in Êzidxan cannot be prevented
The Ezidis have gained an irrefutable democratic consciousness by building their own institutions and self-government.
The Ezidis have gained an irrefutable democratic consciousness by building their own institutions and self-government.
The KCK executive committee co-presidency has recently announced that the guerrilla forces of the HPG and the YJA star will withdraw from the Shengal. The Ezidis have organized themselves and can defend themselves, says the KCK. There are positive signals from Iraq to accept Ezidis’ self-government and self-defense.
Undoubtedly, when a population is organized and determined, it can bring any political force to accept its free and democratic life. Of course, with the level of organization and awareness that the Ezidis have developed in recent years, they will achieve a free and democratic life. They will expand their self-government and self-defense to prevent more massacres.
The attack of the ISIS on 3 August 2014 represented a historic turning point. Êzidxan was to be wiped out by a genocide. The guerrillas rescued the Ezidis out of this situation. They will never forget the genocide of 3 August, or those who saved them from genocide. There is no return to the status quo of before. That is why it is essential to enforce self-government. It is possible for Shengal, as Êzidxan, to achieve an autonomous life. For this, the organized Ezidi society will self-administer with their own councils. There are already councils and local governments anyway.
If Iraq wants to rule over the Ezidis as it did before August 3, then it will lose before any other side. The future of Iraq will also depend on its perspective for Shengal. The recognition of the self-government and self-defense of one of the oldest religious groups in history, which has already experienced 74 genocides, is an important step towards the democratization of Iraq. If Iraq does not accept the autonomy of Êzidxan, and if it uses the guerrilla retreat to suppress the Ezidi population, it will make a historic mistake and miss the opportunity to strengthen itself. In this respect, Iraq is facing a historic test.
The Ezidis tasted a life in self-administration and without repression. They have absorbed the spirit of freedom. In this way, a new world has opened up for them. They have seen that they can live freely with their own identity and world views. Once such a mind reaches the heart of a society, it is hard to control that society as before. Denying of self-administration and self-government would be a suicide for them. It would mean accepting the genocide. For those who have experienced the 3rd of August, it is out of the question.
At the moment, there is no more legitimate fight in the world than that of the Ezidis. If the legitimacy of a fight is so strong, then this fight will certainly win. Because of this legitimacy, the power and possibilities of the Ezidis have multiplied. This power is sufficient for self-government and it continues to increase. It is enough if the organized social forces remain determined and upright.
In some cases, however, a very formal perspective becomes apparent among Ezidis. They do not see the size and depth of their power. Their world view is limited with what they see with their own eyes. They do not understand the power of ideological, political and moral values. At the same time, the Ezidis have achieved such social and political legitimacy that they not only exert an influence on their own society, but also on the strength of the Kurds as a whole. The moral support that the YPG and the YPJ have received through their role in rescuing the Ezidis has also contributed to the liberation of Kobanê and many other areas in Rojava. The whole world supported the YPG and YPJ as rescuers of the Ezidis in their resistance in Kobanê. This fact proves what strength and support the Ezidis receive for their self-government and self-defense. If there is a society in the world today that nobody can oppose, it's the Ezidis. To suppress such a society is not advisable.
The Ezidis’ desire for self-government and self-defense is realistic and well-founded. In this sense, the withdrawal of the guerrillas did not weaken the situation of the Ezidis. The guerrilla prevented the genocide on 3 August 2014. They freed Shengal and played a role in the development of an organized society. In this way they have strengthened the Ezidis inside. The Ezidis are now aware and organized. They have built their own institutions and their own self-defense. These institutions are their own. If they insist on a free and democratic life, no one can prevent their self-government and autonomy.
