Ballot boxes in 68 neighborhoods combined in Amed

According to YSK’s decision, ballot boxes in 68 villages that have the “neighborhood” status will be combined. The ballot boxes in Lice will be moved to the police area.

In their fear of losing the June 24 elections, the AKP-MHP regime appealed to the Supreme Board of Elections (YSK - Yüksek Seçim Kurulu) through governorates and asked to combine ballot boxes in various locations in Kurdistan.

The YSK has agreed to combine ballot boxes on the goverment’s demand. The combination decision was based on the amendment made to Law on Basic Provisions on Elections No.298 dated March 13, 2018

The YSK took action when the governorate appealed and has since issued a statement, both announcing that the authority to combine ballot boxes is not contingent upon the demand of Provincial Election Board Chairs or Governors, and saying, “with appropriate opinions by the Governor and the Provincial Election Board Chair who know the characteristics and security issues in the neighborhood the best”.

HDP VOTES TARGETED

This practice is aimed at preventing the constituents in Kurdistan from voting. The people will be forced to go outside their regions to vote, which is seen as the result of AKP’s fear of the HDP.

This way, the AKP-MHP will have an easier time organizing their fraud.

Kurdish constituents are determined to vote despite all pressures.
