After preventing the delivery of 13 YPG/YPJ and HPG martyrs’ bodies through Habur border gate in Silopi, the Turkish state and AKP government now prevent the entry of 12 YPG/YPJ martyrs’ bodies into Turkey through Suruç. Kobanê Martyrs' Families Institution director Arif Bali called upon the Turkish state to stop disrespecting the bodies of Kurdish people’s children.
The Turkish state had been keeping the bodies of 13 YPG/YPJ and HPG martyrs at Habur border gate in Silopi where the temperature has been around 50 degrees Celcius recently. In a similar way, the Turkish state used the decision of Suruç Governor's Office in order to prevent the delivery of 12 YPG/YPJ fighters, who fell during operations against ISIS in Rojava through Suruç district of Urfa. The bodies of these 12 fighters were buried temporarily in Martyr Dicle Cemetery and will be kept here until they are delivered to the families of the martyrs.
'AKP SHOWED ITS TRUE FACE ONCE AGAIN'
Kobanê Martyrs' Families Institution director Arif Bali objected to the prevention by the Turkish state and AKP government, and emphasized that AKP showed its true face once again with this attitude. Bali said that YPG/YPJ fighters resisting ISIS attacks in Kobanê were fighting for the values of humanity, and the prevention of their bodies’ entry revealed the stance of AKP government. Bali recalled that the 12 YPG/YPJ fighters had fallen during operations against ISIS in Rojava such as the one that resulted in the liberation of Sirrîn, and emphasized that the Turkish state’s prevention reveal that Turkey has not actually been fighting ISIS.
CALL TO THE TURKISH STATE: SHOW RESPECT!
Bali called upon the Turkish state to stop its prevention and respect the dead bodies of Kurdish people’s brave children, noting that this state policy exceeded enmity, and reminded that they were not the enemies of Turkey. Bali stated that they buried the bodies of 12 YPG/YPJ fighters temporarily in Martyr Dicle Cemetary, and would deliver them to the martyrs’ families as soon as the state stopped its prevention.
'IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET RESULTS WITH THIS POLICY'
Bali reported that a total of nearly 30 YPG/YPJ martyrs’ bodies were being held at Suruç and Habur border gates simultaneously, and emphasized that the Turkish state and AKP could not contribute to peace and democracy or get any results with this policy. Bali said that they could bury their martyrs in Rojava since all parts of Kurdistan belonged to the martyrs, but would like to deliver the bodies to the martyrs’ families in North Kurdistan so that they could freely visit their children’s graves in the future.
CALL TO THE PUBLIC
Bali ended his statement by calling upon the public to take action against the inhumane treatment of YPG/YPJ martyrs’ bodies and enable the families of the deceased fighters to bury their children properly.
