Bodies of three HPG members not given to their families

The bodies of three guerrillas who lost their lives in the clashes in Kulp have not been given to their families, who say the bodies might be tortured.

HPG members Velide Avras (Dîcle Ela), Berfin Taşlı (Sarina Amed) and Mustafa Güneş (Hebun Amed) lost their lives in clashes with the Turkish army in the rural areas of Amed’s Kulp district on October 27, and their bodies were taken to the Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital Morgue.

Families of HPG members Avras and Taşlı have identified their children’s bodies while HPG member Güneş’s family is expected to appeal for an identification.

The families spoke to the ANF after the identification and said Velide Avras (Dîcle Ela) had damages to her body and head while Berfin Taşlı (Sarîna Amed) had both her hands missing from the wrist and had severe damages to her head, which suggests the bodies have been tortured.

According to information provided by the state forces after the families’ insistent questions regarding the violation of the bodily integrity of HPG guerrillas, the guerrillas detonated the grenades they had on their persons to avoid surrendering. But the families say the damage to their heads couldn’t be caused by that, and that it looked like inflicted later on.

Though the bodies of Avras and Taşlı have been identified by their families, they were told to submit DNA samples for testing and the bodies will be handed over to the families later due to State of Emergency conditions.
