Campaign to delist the PKK reaches 100,000 signatures in South Kurdistan

Within the framework of the campaign launched to remove the PKK from the "list of terrorist organisations", more than 100 thousand signatures were collected in South Kurdistan.

Over a thousand international names got together in 30 countries responding to the call by the International Justice Initiative for the Kurds, to demand the removal of the PKK from the list of terrorist organizations. The campaign was launched on 13 December 2021 and is carried out in Europe, the US, Canada and Australia. The campaign aims to collect four million signatures. Signatures will be submitted to human rights institutions in the Council of Europe and the US. Since the beginning, the signature campaign has spread to many parts of the world and has received great support.

Within the scope of the campaign, intellectuals, writers, artists, politicians, academics came together in Sulaymaniyah on 29 January  and decided to carry out the campaign in the Kurdistan Region. Since the first day, non-governmental organizations, intellectuals, writers and the public from Sulaymaniyah, Hewlêr, Germiyan, Kelar and many other places have given great support to the campaign.

Mihemed Emin Pênciwênî, a member of the Campaign Committee, told Rojnews that the campaign has been well received and continues to go well. He added that they collected more than 100 thousand signatures and confirmed that their target is to reach one million signatures.

Pênciwênî said: “We will present the signatures we will collect to the International Hague Court in the Netherlands, the Strasburg Court in France, and relevant institutions and organizations. We are planning comprehensive conferences and meetings on this subject."
