Two houses that state forces tried to turn into headquarters in Şırnak’s Bahçelievler neighborhood were targeted by explosions by YPS/YPS-JIN members. The houses have been reduced to rubble and reports say several special operations units died.
The genocidal attacks that began on March 14 against the people’s demand for self government have entered the 51st day. The city is facing violent clashes. 15 special operations units entered two houses between the police lodge and the mourning house and tried to turn them into headquarters last night in Bahçelievler neighborhood.
YPS/YPS-JIN members targeted the two houses. Most of the buildings came down and sources say several special operations units were trapped under the rubble.
Ambulances managed to reach the wounded and the dead after clashes that continued into the night. In the clashes with state forces arriving to take the bodies, several units were wounded.
THE DEAD AND THE WOUNDED TRANSFERRED TO THE MILITARY HOSPITAL
The ambulances took the dead and the wounded to the military field hospital set up in the 23rd Gendarmerie Border Division Command.
According to neighborhood residents, at least 10 units died in the rubble and several wounded personnel were retrieved.
State forces retreated back to their previous positions after retrieving the casualties and bombed Bahçelievler neighborhood with tanks and howitzers through the night.
Quakes occurred in many parts of the city due to the intense bombing and the howitzers and mortars used were seen to be more destructive and flammable.
CLASHES INTENSIFY
Intense attacks started against İsmetpaşa, Yenimahalle and Cumhuriyet neighborhoods in the morning hours. The bombed neighborhoods also host clashes between YPS/YPS-JIN members and the state forces. The clashes have focused around Cumhuriyet Square in the city center now.
Helicopter and UAV activity that started last night continue today around the city and the rural areas.
The deliberate demolition policies of the state against the city also continues. The special operations units have been seen setting fire to houses and shops in streets they are able to enter in Dicle and Yeşilyurt neighborhoods.
