Ceremony in Sulaymaniyah for HPG guerrilla martyr Bawan Mihemed

A ceremony was held in Sulaymaniyah for HPG guerrilla Bawan Mihemed (Helmet Viyan), who fell as a martyr as a result of a Turkish state's chemical weapons attack.

A ceremony was held at the Mela Abdulkerim Muderis Mosque in Sulaymaniyah for HPG guerrilla martyr Bawan Mihemed (Helmet Viyan), one of the 11 guerrillas who fell as a result of a chemical attack carried out by the Turkish state on 5 November.

Wehab Ehmed, member of the PKK South Kurdistan Martyrs' Families Committee, made a speech at the ceremony which saw the participation of the martyr's family and relatives, Tevgera Azadî members and the people of the city.

Ehmed said: “We bow respectfully before the martyrs of our people in all four parts of Kurdistan. Our martyrs gave their lives for the freedom of their people wherever the occupation took place. We have children from four parts of Kurdistan in the caravan of martyrs. Martyr Bawan is one of our martyrs who did not accept injustice and betrayal in Bashur Kurdistan.”

Tevgera Azadî Presidency Board member Sara Reza spoke about the Turkish state's occupation of Bashur Kurdistan and said: “The plans implemented in Bashur Kurdistan are based on the denial and division of the Kurdish people. The invading Turkish state has unfortunately occupied hundreds of kilometers of Bashur territory. There are 28 bases belonging to the Turkish MIT in the Behdinan region. The Turkish state targets our mountains and countryside with chemical weapons every day. The last group of our guerrillas fell martyrs because of these chemical weapons. Our comrade Bawan is one of these martyrs."

Martyr Helmet Viyan's father said: “I offer my condolences to the four parts of Kurdistan in the name of martyr Bawan Mihemed. He was not only my son, but the son of four parts of Kurdistan. He will not be the first martyr, nor will he be the last martyr. Leader Öcalan says it is difficult to be a Kurd and that only honorable Kurds can choose to be Kurds.”
