Cizire Yazidi House issued a statement on the Iraqi government’s attempt to enter the Shengal region in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq.

The statement said: “The Iraqi government continues resorting to any means possible to enter Shengal. As a justification for these attempts, they state that Shengal is affiliated to Iraq. They also cite the existence of foreign forces. Those who did not act for Shengal when ISIS attacked, are now speaking for Shengal. The Iraqi government, which left the people of Shengal face to face with ISIS, did not fulfill its responsibilities.”

The statement continued, “We demand an end to the attacks that target the free will of Shengal people. We hope that what was experienced by the people of Shengal is not repeated. Our patriotic people must rise up to protect the achievements of Shengal people.”
