Cizre Public Hospital occupied by state forces

State forces, using every facility in Cizre Public Hospital including the cafeteria, have banned even the hospital personnel from going up to the third floor.

Two outpatient clinics were shut down and allocated to the gendarmerie and the police. State forces, using every facility in the hospital including the cafeteria, have banned even the hospital personnel from going up to the third floor.

Şırnak’s Cizre district has faced several practices that surpass the time of military law applications since December 12, 2015. Military deployment and state forces’ limitless use of public institutions that started after self-government was declared in the town continue well after the “curfew” has been lifted.

Some schools and their yards continue to house scenes reminiscent of military barracks in the town. Before the “curfew” was declared, the Cizre Public Hospital was turned into military headquarters and barred from public service.

EXAMINATION ACCOMPANIED BY RACIST SLOGANS

Even though the “curfew” has been lifted, the third floor of the Cizre Public Hospital is still being used as encampment for the police and the army. A sign has been put up in the hospital elevator saying it is forbidden to go up to the third floor and even the personnel on duty are not allowed on this floor.

The patients have to get examined by the doctors while the soldiers in morning exercise shout slogans.

Patients who have to come to Cizre Public Hospital due to still ongoing clashes in Şırnak and İdil are having to wait long hours in line as several clinics have been shut down to be allocated as military areas. Patients who can’t get a number due to the crowding have to come back the next day or can’t see the doctors.

These practices of the state forces can not be documented in Cizre.
