Co-mayor of Mardin’s Artuklu district, Sevinç Bozan, who had been taken into custody in İzmir’s Balçova district on September 14, was brought to Mardin Courthouse following procedures at police directorate.

Bozan was later referred to court where she remanded in custody for “membership to a terrorist organization”. She was sent to Mardin E Type Closed Prison.

The government had appointed a trustee to the Municipality of Artuklu on 13 December 2016.
