Co-mayors of Erzurum's Karayazı district, Zeynep Han Bingöl and Mehmet Sait Karabakan, who had been detained on December 6, were referred to prosecutor's office to give their statements after procedures at Erzurum provincial police headquarters.

The co-mayors were then referred to court with a demand for their arrest for alleged “membership to a terrorist organization” and “aiding and abetting a terrorist organization”.

The court ordered the arrest of the co-mayors on the basis of the same accusations.

While Mehmet Sait Karabakan was sent to Erzurum H Type Closed Prison, Zeynep Han Bingöl was put in Erzurum E Type Closed Prison.

A trustee had been assigned to Karayazı district municipality during the same hours when the co-mayors were taken into custody on December 6.
