Commander Dozdar Hamo fell martyr in November 2019

"To be worthy of the memory of friend Dozdar is to avenge Afrin on his behalf and to liberate Afrin and make it the most beautiful place of free life again," said the PKK Committee.

The PKK Solidarity with the Martyrs’ Families Committee said that PKK commander Abdulrahman Hamo (Dozdar Hamo), a leading militant cadre, fell martyr following an air strike organized by the invading Turkish state on Medya Defense Zones in November 2019.

The PKK Solidarity with Martyrs’ Families Committee said: “The pain we feel from the martyrdom of Comrade Dozdar is huge. We can relieve our pain by undertaking his work and bringing his goals to victory. We can relieve our pain by increasing the revenge to be taken from the enemy and by destroying fascism and by ensuring the freedom of Kurdistan and our Leader.”

The statement continued: “Our party's valuable commander, leading militant and comrade Dozdar Hamo (Abdulrahman Hamo), the living representative of communal and historical values, was martyred in the air strike that took place in Medya Defense Zones in November 2019. As the leading party of the Kurdistan people, the PKK has been conducting a half-century struggle for freedom. This struggle originated in Bakur Kurdistan and spread rapidly to the whole Kurdistan, reaching the Kurds in other countries of the world as well to become into a leading party embraced by all the people of Kurdistan.”

The statement shared details of the ilfe and militancy of Dozdar Hamo. “He was born in 1969 in Afrin. As it is known, Afrin is a cultural center where the values of free Kurdishness, agricultural revolution and belief values are preserved and grown. Afrin is a Kurdistan in itself. The moral political society culture that it protects, keeps alive and perpetuates with the values of resistance by integrating with the PKK, has led to the free Kurd emerging in the society of Afrin, and has carried its people to be an example. Comrade Dozdar is a commander who grew up with these social values, deeply connected to his land. He attached importance to social values above all, and has been an exemplary commander throughout his life, fighting with his leading militant stance, in all parts of Kurdistan at the highest level.”

The statement added: “He saw the genocide practices in Kurdistan at a young age and decided to fight for the freedom of Kurdistan and joined the PKK in 1990. He received life and struggle training from Leader Apo [Abdullah Ocalan]. He reached the mountains of Kurdistan in 1992 with the enthusiasm, morale and determination of the training he received from the leadership. He has been a fighter under the most difficult conditions for many years, has taken part in fighting in many areas of the country. He was on the military field for many years, served as a commander, participated in countless actions.”

The statement ended with these remarks: “Comrade Dozdar was deeply inspired by the Rojava revolution, and enthusiastically contributed to it with his efforts. The deep communal consciousness created by the sociality of Afrin has been decisive in his whole life. To be worthy of the memory of friend Dozdar is to avenge Afrin on his behalf and to liberate Afrin and make it the most beautiful place of free life again.”
