DBP calls for urgent action for Şırnak

A group of officials from the HDP and DBP met in the province of Şırnak which witnesses enduring popular resistance against the state's genocidal attacks for almost 2 months now.

A group of officials from the HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) and DBP (Party of Democratic Regions) met in the province of Şırnak which witnesses enduring popular resistance against the state's genocidal attacks for almost 2 months now.

HDP Şırnak MP Leyla Birlik, Muş MP Burcu Çelik Özkan, HDP Group Deputy Chair Çağlar Demirel, Van MP Bediha Özgökçe, Urfa MP Osman Baydemir and Muş MP Ahmet Yıldırım formed 'Şırnak Urgent Monitoring Committee' against the ongoing massacre and destruction in the city. The delegation was welcomed by DBP co-chair Kamuran Yüksek and DBP Women's Commission Co-Spokesperson Fatma Gül in Şırnak.

In a following written statement calling for urgent action for the city, DBP recalled that the war waged by the AKP ruling in the lands of Kurdistan has displaced thousands of people so far.

DBP said that; “Out of tens of thousands that were forcibly displaced as a result of the blockade under the guise of a curfew in Şırnak, more than 30 thousand continue their lives under challenging conditions in settlements, villages and tents.”

In the wake of a discussion on what kind of solidarity must be developed for Şırnak, the DBP-HDP delegation agreed on the practice of the following immediate steps for the city;

- enhancement of the works on urgent need of foodstuff, sheltering and health problems,

- coordination of aid efforts in an urgent manner,

- further activation of the campaigns launched for solidarity with the victimised.
