Baris was sentenced to four years and two months in prison for attending a press conference to give information about the military operations in Tendurek mountain on August 6, 2015.

Baris was accused of “consciously supporting the organization(PKK)” for her remarks during the press conference.

After Turkish Court of Appeal upheld her sentence Baris was arrested at her home in Agri and sent to Patnos Prison.
