Death toll rises to 30 in Hesekê suicide attack

Cizîr Canton Health Council Co-chair Sileman Ehmed said the death toll in the suicide attack has risen to 30.

There was a suicide attack in a wedding on the Hesekê-Sifeya village road around 21.00 last night. Cizîr Canton Health Council Co-chair Sileman Ehmed said that 30 people, mostly women and children, have lost their lives until now, and 90 others were wounded.

Ehmed said the wounded are under treatment in Hesekê, Amûdê and Qamishlo city hospitals (Ferman, Şehîd Xebat, El-Selam, El-Rehme, Dar El-Şîfa, Nafiz and El-Nûr).

He said one young man and a 1 year old baby were wounded in their eyes and were transferred to Bashûr Kurdistan for treatment.

Cizîr Canton Health Council Co-chair thanked all health workers who helped the citizens and treated the wounded. He also stated that they lacked necessary medication due to the embargo on the region and said: “We call on the Health Organisations all over the world to help us.”

Ehmed pointed out that they were treating the wounded with the limited resources they have.
