The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) MPs Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder held a second meeting with Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı F Type High Security Closed Prison on Wednesday, January 22. The first meeting had taken place on 28 December 2023, when Öcalan conveyed messages aimed at finding a solution.
The İmralı Delegation has arrived in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) today. The delegation includes Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır, Özgür Erol and İbrahim Bilmez from Asrin Law Office, DEM Party Foreign Relations Commission Co-Spokesperson Berdan Öztürk, MPs Gülcan Kaçmaz Sayyiğit and Mehmet Kamaç.
Welcomed at the protocol guesthouse at Ibrahim Khalil Border Crossing, the delegation left for Hewlêr (Erbil).
The delegation is expected to meet with KDP President Massoud Barzani and Federal Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani tomorrow. During the meeting, the details of the talks held in İmralı will be shared and the opinions, suggestions and thoughts of those concerned regarding the process will be received.
The delegation will then go to Sulaymaniyah and meet with the PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) Leader Bafil Talabani, Qubat Talabani and other PUK officials.
The DEM Party delegation had previously met with political parties in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and with Figen Yüksekdağ, Selahattin Demirtaş, Leyla Güven and other imprisoned politicians, and conveyed the suggestions, opinions and ideas from these meetings to Öcalan.
On the other hand, the party informed the public about these activities through public meetings and rallies in 42 centers and conveyed the opinions, suggestions, concerns and expectations of the people to the İmralı Delegation in the form of reports.
