Detentions and arrests by AKP continue

While dozens are detained and remanded in custody on daily basis, the self-defense of the people against arrests is also growing. Four persons were detained in Bulanık and Silopi and 18 in Urfa where one of them was remanded in custody. 

MUŞ

Local people in Bulanık district of Muş waged self-defense and dug trenches in order to prevent police forces from entering into neighborhoods for house raids and detentions yesterday evening. Şehitlik neighborhood where trenches were dug was blockaded by police forces with a number of armored vehicles at night. Following a detailed search in the neighborhood during the blockade which lasted till morning hours, police raided some houses and detained three persons who were later taken to district Police Department.

ŞIRNAK

A youth was heavily wounded as a result of an armed attack by Turkish forces in Silopi district of Şırnak.

Armored police vehicles have been deployed on Sağlık Avenue in Barbaros neighborhood of Silopi early this morning. Fire opened from a police vehicle left 19-year-old Abdulkadir Karakaplan heavily wounded. A civilian by the name of Abdullah Vargı, who rushed the youth to hospital in Silopi in his personal car after the attack, has been taken into custody by police.

URFA

Procedures have been started against 17 people and 5 minors who were detained before the peace march planned to be held in Viranşehir district of Urfa but prevented by the governor.

HDP Urfa deputies Leyla Güven and Dilek Öcalan as well as the relatives of the detainees keep waiting outside the courthouse. MP Leyla Güven who spoke to the detainees and their lawyers told that all the 22 detainees were subjected to torture during custody, while 4 of them suffered inhuman torture.

In the meantime one person who had been detained in the house raids carried out by gendarme forces in Kakurtlu and Xullik (Düzlüce) neighbourhoods of Birecik yesterday morning was formally arrested today on alleged grounds of “being member of an organisation” and sent to Urfa E Type Prison.
