Dicle: Our patience comes to an end on Öcalan's isolation

Dicle underlined that democracy and a democratic resolution cannot be developed in Turkey unless the Kurdish question is resolved, saying; "The only way to secure Turkey is the way to democracy and peace."

Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Interim General Meeting has started at the Theater Hall of Amed Metropolitan Municipality.

The general meeting is attended by DTK co-chairs Leyla Güven and Hatip Dicle, DBP co-chair Sebahat Tuncel, some HDP deputies, DBP co-mayors, KJA activists, Peace Mothers Assembly members and some HDP politicians.

Holding the opening speech here, DTK co-chair Hatip Dicle stated that the suspension of the democratic resolution process, with which Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan aimed to pave the way to a democratic republic, prepared the ground for the coup attempt of July 15.

Dicle said Öcalan had warned the AKP before against the probability of such a coup and an aftermath for Erdoğan like Mursi's. He said Erdoğan still ended the resolution process with Öcalan and started a war against the Kurds, adding "If they continue like this, they may soon face an aftermath like that of Mursi.”

Dicle underlined that democracy and a democratic resolution cannot be developed in Turkey unless the Kurdish question is resolved. He continued; "The only way to secure Turkey is the way to democracy and peace. However, we witness today that the country stands far away from this path and a new nationalist front that excludes Kurds and Alevis is being formed. We also see that the government will start to target Kurds and democratic circles once the pro-Fethullah circles are eliminated."

Regarding the aggravated isolation of Öcalan ongoing since April 5, Dicle said Kurds will not be relieved or satisfied by the remarks of the Ministry of Justice alone in the current process when the lives of the President and Prime Minister are also in danger.

Dicle described the current process as a test for the re-initiation of process and return to the table of talks. "We will increasingly continue to be on the streets and manifest that our patience has come to an end on this matter until we receive some news from Öcalan", he added.
