The DTK condemned the Dersim genocide and called for national unity.
The Democratic Society Congress (DTK) said on the occasion of the anniversary of Dersim Genocide: "The Dersim Massacre is one of the bloodiest stages of the genocide and assimilation policies that started with the establishment of the nation state.
The Dersim Massacre was planned gradually since the first years of the Republic. After the name of Dersim was changed to Tunceli, the region was left in the hands of an oppressive and fascist regime. Then, between 1937 and 1938, massacres and exiles began."
The statement condemned "the Dersim Massacre" and called on the government to "face the truth of the Dersim Massacre".
DTK stressed that: "First of all, the archives of Dersim should be opened, the location of the graves of Seyit Rıza and his friends should be disclosed. The projects pillaging the nature in Dersim should be canceled, and an investigation should be launched about those who write on the mountains of Dersim racist and nationalist slogans aimed at stirring hatred among the people."
The DTK added in its statement: "We call on the democratic society to raise their voices together to finally open the archives of this massacre and identify the real criminals. A crime against humanity was carried out in Dersim."
The DTK called on all the people of Kurdistan to "work for the establishment of our national unity against massacres, migration, poverty and assimilation."
