A 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck Karlıova district of Bingöl province in North Kurdistan Sunday afternoon.
According to Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, the earthquake at 5 km depth occurred at 17:24 local time.
The Observatory updated the earthquake magnitude as 5.8 while AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency) announced it to be 5.7 magnitude.
The earthquake was also felt in the surrounding cities including Erzurum and Amed (Diyarbakır).
