The earthquake in the Taza Abad district happened at 03:40 8 km below the surface. There are no casualties reported in the earthquake.
The earthquake was felt in the Jiwanro and Giware regions in Kirmanshan and in Halabja, Southern Kurdistan.
Before the wounds of the deadly earthquake in Eastern Kurdistan last year have healed, the country has seen several earthquakes in recent months.
There had been another 6.1 earthquake in the Kermanshah region 6 km below the surface on August 26 when at least 2 people lost their lives and 230 were wounded.
On July 22, there had been a 5.9 earthquake in Taza Abad, Kirmanshan.
At least 620 people had lost their lives and over 8.500 people were wounded in the 7.3 earthquake in Kermanshah on November 12, 2017.
