Effective guerilla actions in Şırnak and Siirt

HPG Media Center issued a written statement on recent Turkish army operations and effective guerilla actions in Kurdistan. HPG stated that Turkish soldiers launched an operation in Siirt’s Garısa region on June 10, and guerillas carried out an infiltration action against these soldiers from two directions. 2 soldiers were killed and a military tent was destroyed during the action, and the Turkish army carried its casualties in civilian vehicles to Eski Erug area.

HPG stated that guerillas laid an ambush against the soldiers near the village of Dırıjkê at 13:00 on the same day in the same region, and 2 soldiers were killed during the action. Turkish warplanes bombarded the area at 00:00 on June 10 and between 10:00 and 11:00 on June 11, and soldiers withdrew at 19:30 on June 11 without yielding any results.

ACTION AGAINST TWO ARMORED VEHICLES NEAR BİLİCAN OUTPOST

The Media Center stated that guerillas carried out an action against 2 armored vehicles and a group of soldiers near Bilican outpost in Hakkari’s Çukurca district at 11:00 on June 11. One soldiers was injured and the Turkish army unit withdrew back into Bilican outpost during the action.

SABOTAGE ACTION IN ŞIRNAK

HPG said that guerillas carried out a sabotage action against a Turkish army compound near the village of Kelıka Rezak (Dağkonak) in Şırnak at 16:30 on June 10, and 2 positions as well as a tower were destroyed during the action. The Media Center added that the numbers of dead and injured soldiers would soon be shared with the public.

MILITARY CONVOY TARGETED IN ŞIRNAK

HPG announced that guerillas carried out an action against a military convoy moving from Şırnak to Cizre at 14:00 on June 10. A Reo-type armored vehicle was destroyed during the action near the village of Çemê Şemo, and the numbers of dead and injured soldiers have not yet been clarified. The Media Center stated that Turkish warplanes bombarded the area surrounding the village of Piran in Uludere between 10:00 and 12:00 on June 11, and destroyed the gardens and beehives of civilians living in the village.

ACTION AGAINST DOBLO-TYPE MILITARY VEHICLE IN BİSMİL

HPG stated that guerillas carried out an action against soldiers in a Doblo-type military vehicle in the Sanayi neighborhood of Amed’s Bismil district on the night of June 8, and 1 soldier was killed during the action. Guerillas also carried out an action against an Akrep-type armored vehicle that arrived at Sanayi neighborhood after the first action, and the numbers of dead and injured soldiers have not yet been clarified.

HPG said that Turkish warplanes bombarded the rural parts of Cizre, the surroundings of Qurmık and Zengasor villages, and the areas of Martyr Remzi, Mezra Mıho and Martyr Ferhat between 10:40 and 12:30 on June 6-7. Soldiers also blocked the road between Muş and Pasur and are preparing to launch an operation in the area. Turkish soldiers are reported to bombard the area surrounding Hervis outpost in Bitlis and Skorsky type helicopters fly over the outpost.

TURKISH SOLDIERS LAY AMBUSHES IN KARLIOVA

The Media Center noted that Turkish soldiers have been laying ambushes in the Karlıova (Kanireş) district of Bingöl over the past week, and warned civilians to be vigilant against the activities of counter-guerillas in the region. Lastly, HPG added that Turkish soldiers and village guards have been laying ambushes near the villages of Azizan and Heciyan in Karlıova since the beginning of June.
