During the latest guerrilla actions in the resistance against the Turkish invasion in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq), eight soldiers were killed and a surveillance camera was destroyed. According to the daily statement by the HPG Press Centre, the actions took place "under the leadership of the mobile units of the YJA Star" and "in the spirit of resistance of 14 July". According to the statement, the Turkish army used chemical weapons and explosives five times and carried out 15 air strikes.
The HPG gave the following details of the latest guerrilla actions and the Turkish attacks on Saturday and early Sunday morning:
Şikefta Birîndara and Koker
In the resistance area of Şikefta Birîndara in the Zap region, the Turkish army used chemical agents and explosives against an underground guerrilla position and then wanted to advance further. A sniper unit of the HPG intervened and one soldier was shot dead. Also in the Zap region, an attempt to advance towards the guerrilla tunnels in the Koker area was thwarted by the guerrillas in an action of sabotage late on Saturday night.
Girê Cûdî and Girê Amêdî
In the Girê Cûdî resistance area, at least one soldier was killed as result of an action by a mobile guerrilla group on Saturday. Early on Sunday morning, five soldiers were shot dead by YJA Star snipers.
At Girê Amêdî, the guerrillas destroyed a surveillance camera installed by the Turkish army. A soldier who tried to check the camera afterwards was shot dead by a sniper.
Attacks by the Turkish army
The Turkish army attacked guerrilla positions in the Girê Hekarî, Girê Cûdî and Girê FM areas as well as the Şehîd- êkoşer position in Avaşîn with heavy weapons. Chemical weapons and explosives were used in the tunnel facilities in Şikefta Birîndara and Koker.
Drone movements have been taking place over the Girê FM and Çemço areas since yesterday. In the Zap, Gare, Metîna and Avaşîn regions, various points were bombed by fighter jets a total of 15 times.
