Eight Turkish soldiers killed, a drone downed in South Kurdistan

A Turkish drone was downed in Zap and eight soldiers killed in Xakurke.

The Press Office of People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement announcing the details of an action carried out by guerrillas against the Turkish army in Xakurke region of Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq.

As part of the ‘Martyr Bager and Martyr Ronya Revolutionary Campaign’, guerrillas hit Turkish soldiers stationed on Hill Lelikan in Xakurke region at 21:00 on May 10.  Effective strikes targeting the positions and shelters of the Turkish forces left a container and a position completely destroyed, and eight soldiers dead.

After bombing the area at random, Turkish army retrieved the casualties from the scene with helicopters, while the guerrilla unit returned to their base unharmed.

As part of the revolutionary campaign, guerrillas downed a drone flying over the Small Cilo area in Zap region on May 10.

At 10 am on May 10, Turkish fighter jets shelled the areas of Sinînê, Lolan stream and Koma Sor in Xakurke region. The bombardment did not result in any loss in guerrilla ranks, the HPG statement said.
