European delegation to visit Kurdish settlements on recent developments

The Federation of Democratic Worker’s Associations will send a delegation from Europe to visit the settlements, primarily Cizre in North Kurdistan where the Turkish state imposed curfews and massacred civilians in the recent period.

The Federation of Democratic Workers Associations is preparing to send a delegation from Europe to visit the settlements, primarily Cizre in North Kurdistan where the Turkish state imposed curfews and massacred civilians in the recent period.

The delegation will be composed of 15 persons and is expected to share with the European public opinion the details of the incidents that have been taking place in many Kurdish settlements since the initiation by the AKP government of a war concept against the Kurdish population in the country.

The statement about the planned visits said “Our Federation is sending a delegation composed of politicians, journalists, human rights activists and representatives from trade unions to the Kurdish region in order to assess at the scene the recent developments taking place since July, which witnessed murder of many people in clashes, arbitrary imposition of curfews by the state in many cities and districts, and threatening of the people's security of life and property.”

The statement of the federation provided the following details regarding the visits of the delegation:

“The delegation will first visit Mardin Metropolitan Municipality and have talks with the co-mayors on October 4, after which they will go to Cizre where a 9-day curfew was imposed. The delegation will here hold meetings and interviews with the co-mayors, deputies and representatives of civil society organisations to obtain information about the incidents witnessed in the town. The delegation will then visit Bismil and Sur districts of Amed and return to Germany on October 7, Wednesday after finalizing its contacts in those districts.”
