Officials from the Greens/European Free Alliance (Greens/EFA) and the German Green Party (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) will pay a visit to Northern Kurdistan for talks serving a democratic resolution of the Kurdish question in Turkey.
The delegation of European parliamentarians, comprised of Rebecca Harms -Member of the European Parliament for Alliance '90/The Greens- and Cem Özdemir -Chairman of the German Green Party- will give a message in order for an immediate ending of the ongoing violence and conflict environment in Turkey and a return to the peace process.
The delegation will first go to Cizre today and meet officials from the district municipality, governor's office and non-governmental organizations, during which they will be accompanied by HDP Mardin Deputy Prof. Dr. Mithat Sancar and Naci Sönmez -Co-Spokesperson of the Greens and Left Future Party of Turkey.
Harms and Özdemir will also have talks with HDP deputies in the district and Cizre Co-mayor Leyla İmret who has recently been removed from post.
Following talks in Cizre, the delegation will go to Mardin and visit Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Ahmet Türk, after which they will hold a press briefing at the municipality late in the afternoon.
HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş who was in Germany on the day of Dağlıca attack which left dozens of soldiers dead, had been planning to have a meeting with Özdemir and the Greens but later cancelled his program and turned back to Turkey.
