According to local sources, the Turkish army launched an operation in Hakkari’s Şemdinli disrict yesterday morning and the soldiers have come across an explosive trap previously set by the guerilla. The operation is reported to continue in and around the Şapatan area in Şemdinli.

Sources say the Turkish soldiers were headed towards the Bermeşa area when they encountered the explosive trap previously set by the guerrilla forces. Casualties were reported in the explosions but there is no concrete information on their numbers.

Meanwhile yesterday in the evening hours, guerrillas carried out an action on the Baye hill in the Çarçella region of the district of Gever, Hakkari. Several tents and positions of the Turkish army were damaged as a result.
