Forces affiliated to HPG (People's Defense Forces), YJA-Star (Free Women's Troops), YBŞ (Shengal Resistance Units) and YPJ-Shengal (Women's Defense Units) have started a major Operation to Liberate Shengal earlier this morning.

As the offensive continues, a number of civilians have taken up arms to participate in the operation to liberate Shengal.

The Shengal people who spoke to ANF told that they want to fight in the ranks of HPG guerrillas and have been waiting for this moment for a year. The civilians called upon the people of Shengal to turn back to their land.
