An F-16 warplane crashed near the Çarıklı area of Amed’s Mardin Road region.

Search and rescue teams were sent to the site of the crash.

According to İHA, the plane crashed as it began landing, and the pilot lieutenant ejected from the plane right before the crash and told the news agency that the plane was downed.

İHA announced the news as it said "One of our F-16 planes was downed around 19:32 on 12 December 2016 in the gendarme zone of Çarıklı Tavşantepe area in Mardin yolu region, the plane’s pilot survived and is in good condition, and the pilot stated that he survived by jumping with a parachute and the plane was taken down during an attack."
