Families of people massacred in Cizre condemned the AKP and Erdoğan, and stated that they would not abandon Cizre. Families objected to Prime Minister Davutoğlu’s statement that ‘peace was brought to Cizre,’ and said that the peace Davutoğlu referred to was the burning of houses and people in the district.

Mothers Esmer Tunç and Emine Acet, and father Nurettin Acar who spoke to ANF said that they would not abandon Cizre despite the Turkish state’s genocidal attacks.

Mother Esmer Tunç: Who was Mehmet Tunç? He was the heart, soul, and eyes of all of us. Mehmet Tunç was our back, which is now broken! He called for help, but this heretic state attacked his cry for help. Nobody came to his rescue, we are all heretics for that! Europe is heretic, the US is heretic, human rights are heretic, human rights do not exist today… Could a Muslim be this brutal toward another Muslim? Look at here, does such a scene exist in Kobanê? Nobody is as brutal as the Turkish state, my only wish from God and the sages around Cizre is that the state is brought to account. The Prime Minister is supposedly praying, what good would his prayers do! He should come to our basements and see what he did to Kurdish youth…These heretics destroyed us and our properties, but we will not abandon our homes. Where shall we go? Are we going to leave and become their servants? We will stay on our lands until we die, we will not abandon here.

'WE ARE GOING NOWHERE'

They burned and destroyed everything we had here, including our houses and youth! They lie when they say that ‘terrorists burned down Cizre,’ all of the people killed here were young Kurdish people. May God perish their homes!

As long as we are alive, we will not forget Mehmet’s memory and the pain we suffer, we will never forget him. And we are not going anywhere, should we go to Ankara, Istanbul or Mersin? Their psychopaths are after our youth everyday, they kill our youth and leave their bodies on the street. I swear we are not going anywhere, we will stay here until we die!

What did Mehmet Tunç do or say to you? He said ‘I am Kurdish, God brought me to this world as a Kurd, my mother tongue is Kurdish, my culture is Kurdish!’ This was Mehmet’s only mistake, for which they slaughtered my son. He did not pillage anyone’s home, kidnap women, or steal property…his only crime was being a Kurd!

Nurettin Acar: The Prime Minister says that they brought peace to Cizre, he should come and see what he did here! They burned and destroyed everywhere, but we will not abandon our town. We will stay and die in Cizre. They killed our children, but the Prime Minister should know that we are not abandoning here. They may try to kill all of us, we will remain here!

Emine Acet: We are here because they killed our children. May God punish them for what they did. We will stay here until the end, until they perish from this earth!
